Global Power Components is a privately held, rapidly growing manufacturer of UL heavy-gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures housing fully integrated electrical distribution and control systems. Operating from our expanded 300,000+ square foot facility, we continue to invest in automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies to improve productivity, quality, and employee development. As our robotic welding capabilities continue to grow, we are seeking a hands-on Robotics Technician to support daily operation of collaborative robots (cobots), robotic welding cells, and automated welding equipment throughout the facility.
Position Summary:
The Robotics Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation, setup, troubleshooting, and support of robotic welding systems used in production. Working closely with the Senior Industrial Engineer (Robotic Welding), Welding Manager, and production teams, this individual will ensure robotic welding equipment operates safely, efficiently, and consistently while helping maximize throughput and weld quality. This role is ideal for someone with a strong welding background who enjoys working with automation technology and wants to grow within advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities:
- Operate collaborative robots (cobots) and robotic welding cells to support daily production requirements.
- Perform setup, changeovers, and basic parameter adjustments for robotic welding programs.
- Load, unload, and position components in robotic welding fixtures.
- Monitor robotic welding operations to ensure compliance with quality and production standards.
- Troubleshoot robotic welding issues including weld quality concerns, wire feed problems, torch issues, sensor faults, and equipment alarms.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on robotic welding equipment and tooling.
- Assist with fixture setup, validation, and optimization activities.
- Work with weld engineering and production teams to improve robotic cell performance, utilization, and throughput.
- Conduct weld inspections and verify components meet drawing and quality requirements.
- Document production issues and communicate corrective actions to engineering and management teams.
- Train production employees on safe operation of robotic welding equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around all robotic cells and automation equipment.
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new robotic welding systems and automation projects.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Follow all safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical degree, welding certification, or manufacturing-related education preferred.
- 2-5 years of welding, fabrication, robotic welding, automation, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience operating robotic welding equipment, cobots, or automated manufacturing equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of MIG welding processes and welding fundamentals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Experience with FANUC, Miller, Fronius, Lincoln Electric, Universal Robots, or similar robotic systems is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Robotic welding cell setup and operation.
- Cobot programming adjustments and teach-point modifications.
- Weld quality inspection and defect identification.
