Weld Expediter
Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.
As a result of our expansion, we are looking for a Weld Expediter to join our growing team.
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Weld Expediter will play a key role in coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring the timely flow of welded components through the fabrication process. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure deadlines are met without compromising safety or quality.

The Weld Expediter will play a key role in coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring the timely flow of welded components through the fabrication process. Responsibilities: (what you will be doing)
- Monitor daily weld shop schedules and track progress of welded components to ensure timely completion.
- Act as the primary point of contact between welders, supervisors, and production management to resolve bottlenecks and prioritize workload.
- Verify accuracy of work orders, drawings, and materials before components are released to welding.
- Coordinate with material handlers and inventory to ensure parts, fixtures, and consumables are available for welders.
- Expedite rework or priority jobs as required to meet customer deadlines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work order status and communicate updates to leadership daily.
- Collaborate with fabrication, paint, and assembly departments to ensure smooth workflow throughout production.
Requirements: (what it takes to be successful)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or welding coursework preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or welding environment.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication, and metalwork.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP system experience preferred).
- Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while supporting team goals.
- Ability to walk, bend, and stand for long periods; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive legally between manufacturing locations (all in greater Milwaukee).
